The Synaptic Leap

The Synaptic Leap is another initiative to coordinate open source biomedical research. It looks like they are using Drupal to run a collection of communities. Just as we have, they have identified malaria as an obvious first choice. It will be very interesting to see how all of these efforts co-evolve and leverage each other.

I'll update these open science sites in the UsefulChem wiki as well.

If you're keeping a compendium of open science initiatives on the wiki, you might consider adding BioRoot; see also here for description.

That is a great addition. I wish there were a section for organic chemicals as well as biomolecules. I have added it to the UsefulChem wiki.

Nodalpoint (computational biology) could also be considered an open science community. There is even a current thread for discussion of possible synergies with synaptic leap. Maybe you could drop in to give you opinion about possible collaboration also with useful chem ?
